Dodgers Mathletics is a fun and engaging educational program that inspires students to enhance and practice their math skills. Dodgers Mathletics promotes the importance of math to first- through eighth-grade students by offering a workbook filled with Dodger baseball-related math exercises. For the past two years, the Dodgers' Community of Schools have participated in the Mathletics program. This year, all schools can participate by downloading the workbooks below.

Dorris Place Students Shine at Novo LA Live!

On September 27, 2016 at the Novo LA Live in front of over 2,000 supporters, the 6th graders from Dorris Place Elementary School performed an original song they wrote and performed.

This was accomplished with the help of Grammy award winning songwriter Liz Rose. This opportunity was afforded to the students of Ms. Rodriguez’s 6th grade class through the partnership with Education Through Music Los Angeles.

The process began last school year when the students were 5th graders. After many hours of practice, vocally and on ukuleles, students performed to a sold out audience. The event was a fundraiser to support the Country Music Hall of Fames music programs.

Title I

Thank you parents that came out to our annual Title I meeting. We appreciate your time and participation in your child's educational experience. If you happened to miss out on this meeting, please be on the lookout, as more informative meetings are forthcoming!!

Girls Leading Our World (GLOW)

In partnership with Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) and the Women Center for Creative Work (WCCW) approximately a dozen Dorris Place students and alumni participated in a 2 week art camp. Students who participated in this camp collaborated with local artists to do song building, book making and writing, portraiture and small group discussions. A great time was had by all. Stay tuned for future opportunities. Click here to see more pictures from this event.

Meet Our New President

Karyssa Serafin is our 2016-2017 Student Council President. She has been attending Dorris Place since she was in pre-school. In addition to be an excellent athlete, Karyssa is a hard working student with strong leadership qualities. We are very fortunate to have her as our President.

Last school year, 6 students applied to be a part of a beginning photography class. Initially there was only 2 spots for students to participate in the class. However, with the resourcefulness of Tracy Stone the additional 2 spots were made available. Students were given digital cameras and taught some basic photography fundamentals by Ms. Rodriguez.
On August 13, 2016 at the Frogtown Art Walk student photographs were displayed at Tracy Stone Architecture office. Thank you students, Ms. Rodriguez and Tracy Stone! Click here to view photography from these students.
